Ethiopia: Castel Group acquires stake in Zebidar Brewery S.C.

Castel Group, owner of 99.9 percent shares in BGI Ethiopia PLC, in its latest move has acquired the shares of Unibra S.A. in Zebidar Brewery S.C. However, the share transfer has to wait for COMESA’s blessing to go through, 2merkato reported on April 12.

As per Castel's statement, Zebidar has now joined the group of beers and breweries that are owned by BGI.

Currently, Castel Group owns 4 breweries and the newest acquisition is said to reinforce BGI’s presence in Ethiopia. Furthermore, the acquisition consolidates the company’s activities in South and South West areas of the country.
